ALL charges have been dropped against the twenty-three youth protesters who were on Saturday arrested following a demonstration against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and Femicide in the country.
The 23 that were arrested on day three of protests in the Capital have been waiting patiently at the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court since 08:00 for their case to be called.
Hundreds of protesters filled Lüderitz Street in front of the court building in solidarity with the group that was arrested.
Members of the group were charged with contravening health regulations, as well as obstructing police officers in the execution of their duty.
The office of the Prosecutor General, however, made a decision not to prosecute the youth protestors and the case was removed from the court roll.
The accused persons joined their fellow protestors outside the court and the group moved to the Zoo Park in the city centre to continue with their protest.
