Violent crimes increasing

AN incident of murder and two of attempted murder were reported to the Namibian police after the countrywide curfew and State of Emergency was lifted by the Namibian Government.

 

A case of murder was registered with the Namibian Police in Swakopmund after the 28-year-old Raynes Raimanu Bekeur was stabbed to death with a broken bottle at the Komilunga Bar in Erica Tsuses Street in the Mondesa residential area of the coastal town on Friday night.

 

According to the incident report provided by the Public Relations Division of the Namibian Polie the victim was stabbed n the left side of his neck during a fight at the bar.

 

Bekeur died on the spot and a 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder.

 

The two cases of attempted murder were reported to the Namibian Police over thepast weekend.

 

The first incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when robbers wounded a man in the Otjomuise residential area of Windhoek during an armed robbery.

 

The victim attempted to retrieve the possessions the robbers stole from him and one of the robbers shot him in the left arm.

 

According to the incident report another case of attempted murder was reported to the Namibian Police at Okongo on Saturday morning after a man tried to kill his girlfriend with a bottle at the Enyana Cuca shop.

 

The motive for the attack is not yet known but it is alleged that the suspect hit the 25-year-old woman with an empty bottle on her head.

 

The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital while her boyfriend fled the scene of the crime.

 

The suspect is yet to be arrested.
