THE 36-year-old Nauta Amalia Munyenga died horribly after her 23-year-old boyfriend attempted to behead her with a panga during an argument.
The Omusati Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Titus Shikongo, said that during the argument the suspect ran into the victim’s bedroom armed with a panga where he struck her several time on the head and neck with the deadly weapon. He added that the victim sustained deep wounds to the back of her head and neck.
“The victim’s injuries were fatal and she died on her way to the Outapi District Hospital,” Shikongo said.
According to Commissioner Shikongo the horrific murder occurred on Sunday evening in the Ouhwaala Village in the Anamulenge Constituency. He added that the murder suspect has since been arrested.
Shikongo pointed out that the suspect and the victim lived together at her grandmother’s homestead.
He said that the couple were seen together at the cuca shops near the homestead before the murder incident.
“It is alleged that the duo were heading home from the cuca shops when the argument broke out. When they reached the homestead the argument turned violent and the elderly woman, who was home alone, attempted to separate the fighting couple,” he said.
Commissioner Shikongo said the suspect is set to make his first appearance before the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on amongst others the charge of murder later this week.
