Dangerous fugitive rearrested

SAN Ricky Geingob, a dangerous trial awaiting criminal that escaped from police custody about a week ago, was re-arrested following an intense manhunt by the Namibian Police.

 

According to the Public Relation Division of the Namibian Police the relentless search for the fugitive, who escaped last Sunday while he was under guard in the Katutura State Hospital. The search ended when his whereabouts was reported to the Namibian Police by members of the public.

 

The search for Geingob was orchestrated by Nampol’s Serious Crime Investigation Subdivision and he was apprehended while hiding in Okahandja on Friday night.

Before he managed to escape Geingob was incarcerated at the Windhoek Central Correctional Facility where he was awaiting trial on cases of armed robbery, rape, housebreaking and theft and two previous cases of escaping from lawful custody. A third case of escaping from lawful custody will now be added to the long list of crimes on his charge sheet.

 

The Namibian Police Force extended its appreciation to the members of the public, the media and the Serious Crime Division, who assisted and who provided information that led to the successful apprehension of the dangerous fugitive.
