NAMIBIAN in northern parts of the country were overwhelmed with joy as a heavy rain shower fell over large swaths of thirsty land on Wednesday afternoon.
The heavy shower followed sporadic light showers that fell over the past few days. The heavy shower formed streams of water on the ground that started to fill the various Oshanas between the larger towns of the region which is named after the shallow water pans.
Members of the community even went out in the rain to collect rain water in a large variety of containers.
Further to the south residents of Otavi and Otjiwarongo also reported showers in their immediate area.
Thick banks of clouds built over Windhoek and by the late afternoon rain started to fall over certain parts of the city.
