OATF was a resounding success

CHAIRPERSON of the preparatory committee for Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF), Damian Egumbo, said that the 20th edition of the OATF was a resounding success.
Egumbo made the remarks during a press conference held at Ongwediva on Thursday, saying that this year’s trade fair has lived up to expectations.
According to Egumbo, a total of 457 exhibitors participated in this year’s trade fair which represents a 1.5 percent increase from 2018 OATF of 450 exhibitors, with 25 economic sectors represented.
“This year the private sector took the lead as the majority exhibitors,” said Egumbo.
According him, the holding capacity for the fair is 430 however exhibitors increase due to demand and if the space allows, they can beyond the holding capacity.
Egumbo stated that exhibitions from home-based businesses, education and training, agriculture/horticulture, fisheries, automotive, clothing and textile, public sector institutions, Information Communication and Technology (ICT) and energy were among the top most frequented exhibitions stands.
He stated that this year more space was made available in the Queen hall, following the space made by MTC that used to occupy about 12 stands spaces.” Only one booking was cancelled, while the attendance of the remaining sessions was rated satisfactorily.”
Egumbo, who express joy over the fair, said that they were place to host their fair with no crime or no major security incidences reported.
This year’s OATF was held under the theme “Fostering Economic Growth through Innovation.”
