A LOCAL group of dancers known as Killer Stars from the Ongwediva in the Oshana Region, has embarked on a project of offering free dancing lessons to passionate dancers.
Killer Stars Team leader Naudili Stefanus, said that they have opened a dancing academy when the group was always being booked and they saw the need to expand their group.
According Stefanus, the Dancing Addict Academy was officially launched early in April this year, with the aim of offering free dancing lessons in Kwaito, Hip hop, house music to orphans and vulnerable children, school going children and unemployed youths.
“WE aim to groom aspiring dancers,” he said, adding that dance give dimension to video.
The Academy has over 20 dancers from Ongwediva, they participate every day at the Ongwediva Sam Nujoma Multi-purpose centre.
“The stand-out candidates then select each other and a group,” noted Naudili.

Despite effort to provide lessons, the Academy is in dire need of sponsorship in order for the dancers to be trained professionally and look appealing when need arises.
“We see the academy being successful and the dancers competing with other bigger academy and providing dancers to dance in videos and projects,” he stated, adding that the academy hope to have its own training venue one day.
Naudili called on people to be open-minded when it comes to project funding and invest in dancing, saying that it is hard for dancers to breakthrough in the entertainment industry, as it always come second.
Killer Stars, which many a time have left the crowd craving for more of their mind-blowing performances has been dancing for almost 12 years. Killer Stars, now a common name in the entertainment sector in the northern regions, has seven dancers. The group was formed in 2008.
Despite the fact that they are from different households they treat one another as family and support each other in other aspects of their lives.
