THE Namibian Police in Okahandja has launched a search for a hit and run driver that caused the death of 15-year-old Ransiska Eises in the Saamstaan Location of Nau-aib on Saturday.
According to the report about the incident that occurred just after 20:00 the driver of a Nissan bakkie struck the girl while he was driving in the southerly direction in the Saamstaan location. The victim was killed instantly.
It is further alleged that after the driver hit the girl he went on to crash the vehicle into an oncoming Toyota bakkie. The out of control vehicle then crashed into a house.
The suspect left the vehicle at the scene and ran away from the carnage he caused.
Once apprehended the driver will face charges of culpable homicide, reckless and or negligent driving, failing to ascertain nature and extent of injuries sustained by any person after an accident, failing to render assistance to injured person after an accident, failing to ascertain the nature and extent of damage sustained after an accident and defeating the course of Justice.
The police in Okahandja requested the public to assist them in tracing the suspect. Anyone with information is requested to report to Okahandja Police Station.
In separate incident over the weekend a woman was pronounced dead on arrival at the Onandjokwe Hospital over the weekend after she was struck by a truck that belongs to the Omuthiya Town Council at about 22:30 at night.
According to the crime bulletin the deceased was walking across the main road between Omuthiya and Ondangwa in the area of Onyaanya when she was struck by the driver of a red Mercedes Truck.
The victim was transported to Onandjokwe hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The driver of the town council truck faces a charge of culpable homicide.
