The Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) is appealing to members of the public for information that may assist with an ongoing investigation following the discovery of a dismembered body in the Daan Viljoen area, outside Windhoek.
On 5 October 2026, a member of the public alerted the Otjomuise Police regarding the discovery of a dismembered body of a middle-aged woman, found in a riverbed in that area. The scene was attended to, and an investigation immediately started to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and to identify and trace the suspect(s).
Deputy Commissioner Kaunda Shikwambi said that NAMPOL is appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area, or who may have information that could assist the investigation, to come forward and share information with the Police. Particularly those residing in or frequenting the Otjomuise, Khomasdal, Daan Viljoen and surrounding areas are encouraged to report any information that may be relevant to the case.
“Given the sensitive nature of the matter and the ongoing investigation, further details cannot be shared at this stage, as that may compromise the investigation or cause unnecessary distress to the public.
The dismembered body is at the Namibian Police Forensic Science Institute for forensic examination, to assist in establishing the identity of the deceased and to provide information that may assist investigators in determining the circumstances surrounding the death.
We urge members of the public to refrain from speculation or circulation of unverified information, particularly on social media, as this may prejudice the investigation and may cause further distress to those affected,” Shikwambi said.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to contact or provide the information anonymously to Commissioner Nelius Becker on 081 129 9215 or Commissioner Morris Naruseb on 081 305 2897, or the nearest police station.
