THE Namibia Ports Authority (NamPort) has committed N$90 million to the development of sport in Namibia and partnered with the Namibia Football Association (NFA) to advance football development across the country.
“NamPort’s commitment of N$90 million over three years is an important investment in the development of sport and in the communities that sustain it. At N$30 million annually, this is the largest annual sponsorship in the history of Namibian football. It carries both opportunity and responsibility,” President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
The President made these remarks at the handover ceremony for NamPort’s contribution and the official announcement of the NamPort-NFA partnership.
She noted that NamPort is expanding its existing support for regional football across the country, with the authority’s initiatives having reached approximately 720 teams nationwide over the past two years.
“This new investment must strengthen that foundation. It must help our players progress and give clubs the stability they need to develop the game,” the President said.
She noted that the N$90 million commitment follows NamPort’s N$100 million dividend to the State, announced at its recent Annual General Meeting. She highlighted this as evidence of NamPort’s sound performance and management.
“I congratulate the Board, management and employees of NamPort for stepping forward at this important time. On behalf of the Government and the people of Namibia, I thank you,” the President added.
