Cricket World Cup 2027 ticket ballot opens

Cricket World Cup 2027 ticket ballot opens

Staff Reporter

FANS around the world can now enter the ticket ballot for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will feature 57 matches across Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe from 2 October to 21 November 2027.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) opened the ballot alongside the release of the tournament schedule, giving supporters an opportunity to register for tickets ahead of the competition.

The ballot is free to enter, and fans can submit one entry per person per match while entering for multiple matches across the tournament.

Applications will not be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Where demand exceeds the available allocation for a fixture, successful applicants will be selected through a randomised ballot process.

The ballot will remain open until 23:59 (SAST) on 21 November 2026, with successful and unsuccessful applicants notified by email.

No payment is required when entering the ballot.

Ticket prices range from approximately US$9.50 for entry-level tickets to about US$30 for the highest-tier matches, although prices may vary according to exchange rates.

The ticket offering also includes family bundles, student and pensioner pricing, early-bird local allocations, as well as community club and school group pricing.

The tournament will be staged across 12 venues, with eight in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and one in Namibia.

South African venues include Cape Town, Paarl, Johannesburg, Tshwane, Bloemfontein, Durban, KuGompo City and Gqeberha, while Zimbabwe will host matches in Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls.

The competition will feature 14 teams and consist of three stages before the semi-finals and final.

The opening Super Series will feature the three lowest-ranked teams entering the tournament, with the winner progressing to the Group Stage.

The 12-team Group Stage will be divided into two groups of six, with each team playing the other teams in its group once.

The top three teams from each group, together with the highest-ranked fourth-placed team, will advance to the Super 7.

In the Super 7, the seven teams will play each other once, with no points carried over from the Group Stage. The top four teams will then progress to the semi-finals.

India, Australia, Pakistan, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka have been pre-seeded into designated Super 7 positions to provide greater certainty around potential fixture pathways and venues.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah said the schedule and opening of the ticket ballot marked major milestones ahead of the tournament.

The 2027 World Cup will mark the return of the men’s Cricket World Cup to Africa for the first time since 2003 and Namibia’s debut as a host of matches at the senior tournament.

Fans can register their interest in buying tickets through the official tournament ballot at https://worldcup.cricket.na/, with entry free and all valid entries submitted during the ballot period receiving equal consideration.
