IN a rare occurrence, a woman is amongst three suicides by hanging reported over the weekend. Namibian police are investigating the three apparent suicides that occurred on Friday in Eenhana, Rehoboth and Okahandja. Authorities have confirmed that no foul play is suspected in any of the incidents.
According to the weekend crime report, in the first case, the body of Andonia Teresia Hamwaanyema, 54, was discovered in Onanghulo village near Eenhana. She was found hanging from a toilet roof. No suicide note was recovered. Next of kin have been informed, and police investigations continue.
Later the same day, the body of Heinrich Van Wyk, 32, was found by a passerby hanging from a tree behind Drotsky Courts in Block G, Rehoboth. He had last been seen leaving home the previous night. A suicide note was recovered at the scene. Relatives have been notified, and the probe remains open.
In Okahandja, the body of Wilbard Nuyoma Nkandi, 48, was discovered around 11:40 hanging in a toilet in the Five Rand location. A suicide note was found. Next of kin have been informed, and police investigations are ongoing.
