A 78-YEAR-OLD man in Rehoboth allegedly lost N$39 080 after a suspect pretended to be calling from Bank Windhoek and obtained his banking details, while a separate robbery in Katutura left a 26-year-old man without cash and three phones valued at N$28 300.
According to the weekend crime report, the alleged fraud occurred on Friday in Rehoboth.
It is alleged that the suspect called the victim and pretended to be a Bank Windhoek representative. The victim allegedly provided his banking details, after which N$39 080 was transferred from his account.
No arrest has been made and no money has been recovered. Police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and robbed by suspects at Single Quarters in Katutura on Saturday.
The suspects allegedly threatened the victim with pangas and robbed him of cash and three cellphones with a combined value of N$28 300.
No arrests or recoveries have been made in connection with the robbery, and police investigations continue.
