A 30-YEAR-OLD man was injured in an alleged exchange of gunfire with anti-poaching rangers at a farm in the Outjo district, while another suspect reportedly fled the scene and an alleged getaway driver was arrested.
According to the weekend crime report, the incident happened on Saturday at Farm Kifaru.
It is alleged that two men, aged 30 and 45, entered the farm and were spotted by anti-poaching rangers who were on patrol.
Upon seeing the rangers, the suspects allegedly opened fire, prompting the rangers to return fire and injure the 30-year-old suspect.
He was transported to Outjo Hospital for medical treatment, while the 45-year-old suspect allegedly fled the scene.
Police reportedly recovered a hunting rifle, two rounds of live ammunition, two spent cartridges, a knife, an axe, bread and chips at the scene.
A 35-year-old man, who is allegedly the getaway driver, was also arrested. He was reportedly found driving a white seven-seater vehicle parked along the D2761 road in the vicinity of the farm.
Police investigations continue.
