A NINE-MONTH-OLD baby boy died in a house fire at Onanghulo village in the Ondobe Constituency on Saturday, after a fire allegedly started while two young children were playing with matches.
According to the Namibian Police weekend crime report, the incident occurred at about 12:22 when two boys, aged four and seven, who were reportedly home alone, were allegedly playing with matches.
The fire started in one traditional thatched room before spreading to four other thatched rooms.
A nine-month-old baby boy, who was sleeping in one of the rooms, was trapped in the fire and burned to death.
The deceased’s body was transported to the Eenhana State Mortuary.
The baby’s next of kin have been informed.
