POLICE have arrested suspects in three serious violent incidents reported in Onayena, Outapi and Karasburg over the weekend, including an alleged attempted murder involving three victims and two separate murder cases.
In Onayena, a 27-year-old Namibian man was arrested following an alleged domestic violence-related attempted murder at Oniimwandi village on Friday.
According to the Namibian Police weekend crime report, the suspect allegedly broke down the door of a sleeping room where the victims were sleeping using an unknown object before entering and assaulting them.
The three victims sustained minor to serious injuries. They were initially taken to the Onayena Health Centre before being transferred to Onandjokwe Hospital for further treatment.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 August 2026. Police investigations are continuing.
In Outapi, a 26-year-old Namibian man was arrested for the alleged murder of 44-year-old Teofilus Kapilu at Etalaleko location in Iipandahangano village on Friday.
Police allege that the suspect used an Okapi knife to stab Kapilu in the chest, resulting in his death at the scene.
The suspect was arrested and the alleged murder weapon was recovered. The deceased’s body was transported to the Okahao Police Mortuary.
Police investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, in Karasburg, a 27-year-old man died after allegedly being stabbed during a fight at Ubib Reserve on Saturday.
Police allege that the victim, identified as Richard Ronaldo, and a 30-year-old male suspect became involved in a quarrel that escalated into a physical fight.
The suspect allegedly used an unknown object, suspected to be a knife, to stab Ronaldo in the chest, causing an open wound.
Ronaldo was taken to Karasburg State Hospital but succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.
The suspect has been arrested, but the alleged murder weapon has not yet been recovered.
Ronaldo’s next of kin have been informed.
Police investigations into the case are continuing.
