POLICE are investigating a series of housebreaking and theft cases reported in Windhoek, Rehoboth, Henties Bay and Katima Mulilo, with stolen property collectively valued at more than N$180 000.
According to the Namibian Police weekend crime report, in Brakwater, a housebreaking was reported on Friday. It is alleged that the suspect forced entry into a house through a bathroom window using an unknown object and stole items valued at approximately N$12 000.
No items have been recovered and no arrest has been made.
Another housebreaking was reported in Khomasdal at about 13:00 on the same day. The suspect allegedly broke into a house using an unknown object and stole property valued at N$22 100.
Police said no items have been recovered and no arrest has been made, with investigations continuing.
In Rehoboth, business premises next to Woermann Hyper in Block B were allegedly broken into between midnight and 03:00 on Friday.
According to police, the suspect cut a hole in the roof to gain entry and stole items valued at N$12 015, including N$2 613 in cash. The suspect remains unknown and no arrest has been made.
A separate housebreaking was reported in Block F, Rehoboth, on Friday. The suspect allegedly tampered with the complainant’s door to gain entry and stole property valued at N$10 600.
Police said the stolen property has not been recovered, but a suspect has been arrested.
In Henties Bay, police are investigating a more serious housebreaking involving five unidentified male suspects who allegedly forced their way into a house on Saturday.
The suspects were reportedly armed with a panga, knives and iron bars and forced open a window to gain entry to the house of a 79-year-old man.
Property estimated at N$60 000 was allegedly stolen, including a 9mm pistol with an empty magazine and its licence. Police said the total value of the stolen property is still to be confirmed.
No arrests have been made and none of the stolen items have been recovered.
In Katima Mulilo, a housebreaking was reported in the Lyambai location on Saturday.
The suspect allegedly damaged a sitting-room window with an unknown object, pulled out the metal bar used to secure the door and gained entry before stealing property valued at N$37 000.
No items have been recovered and no arrest has been made.
Another housebreaking occurred on Saturday morning between 03:00 and 04:00 in the Ngweze location, where a suspect allegedly used an unknown object to break a burglar lock and door lock before stealing property valued at N$29 750.
No items have been recovered and the suspect remains at large.
