THE Namibian Police in Oranjemund, in the ||Karas Region, have arrested a 28-year-old woman for allegedly contravening the Child Care and Protection Act of 2015.
It is alleged that on Friday, the suspect left her two children, aged 3 and 5, unattended after locking them inside the house.
According to the police, the children switched on a heater, which later caught fire.
Neighbours rescued the children by breaking into the house through a window after noticing smoke coming from the building.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Oranjemund Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
