Prime Minister Dr Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare has commended AgriBank for allocating N$20 million to youth in the agriculture sector.
Speaking during a visit to AgriBank on Wednesday afternoon, the Prime Minister welcomed the initiative following a briefing by the bank on the implementation of its youth agriculture financing programme.
Dr Ngurare said the investment aligns with key pillars of the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), which prioritises food security, youth empowerment and sustainable economic growth. He noted that empowering young people through agriculture will not only strengthen national food production but also create employment opportunities and contribute to long-term economic development.
The Prime Minister further applauded AgriBank for the swift implementation of the Youth Development Fund, describing it as a practical demonstration of the Government’s commitment to creating opportunities for young Namibians.
During the briefing, AgriBank informed the Prime Minister that it has so far disbursed N$23 million under the Youth Development Fund, with the majority of beneficiaries engaged in poultry farming.
