THE Namibian Police in the Omusati Region have yet to arrest a known suspect who allegedly raped a 21-year-old mentally challenged woman on 24 July.
According to Regional Police Commander Ismael Basson, the incident occurred in a village in the Onesi Constituency at night while the victim was on her way home from church.
A suspect approached her and forced her to go with him to his house, where he allegedly raped her.
The matter was reported to the police by the victim’s mother, said Basson, who also noted that the suspect is known but has not been arrested yet.
Basson also reported that the police at Okahao are investigating a case of violation of the Combating of Immoral Practices Amendment Act 2000 after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly impregnated by her cousin following several encounters during March and April this year.
The two reside in the same house in Uukuvu village.
