TEAM Namibia’s gymnasts have reflected on their experience at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, describing the opportunity to represent the country on the international stage as a proud and unforgettable moment.
The Namibian gymnastics team, featuring Tyesha Vicente Humphries, Jonie Thorburn and Sureshni Andrew, competed with determination and pride throughout the Games, showcasing their commitment despite facing challenges on the competition floor.
Humphries shared her emotions after making her Commonwealth Games debut, saying the experience of representing Namibia was one she would always treasure.
“My first Commonwealth Games. What an unforgettable experience it has been representing the country where I was born, alongside such an incredible team,” she said.
She praised her teammates for their efforts and acknowledged that while the competition did not go exactly as planned, the athletes remained determined to give their best for Namibia.
“It wasn’t the competition we had hoped for, and mistakes happened, but we kept our heads high and gave everything we had to represent Namibia with pride, heart and determination,” Humphries said.
The gymnast said the journey represented more than results and scores, highlighting the support she received from her family, especially her mother, who encouraged her throughout her sporting career.
She also thanked the Namibia Gymnastics Federation for providing the opportunity to compete at one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
“Thank you for believing in us and giving us the opportunity to represent our country on one of the biggest stages,” Humphries said.
Team Namibia officials praised the gymnasts for their courage, confidence and dedication, saying every routine reflected the hard work and commitment required to compete at the Commonwealth level.
The athletes’ participation in Glasgow marked another milestone in Namibia’s continued presence on the international sporting stage.
