PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has arrived in Guangzhou for a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 5 to 11 July 2026, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, aimed at strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.
The visit underscores the longstanding ties between Namibia and China, built on mutual respect, solidarity and shared development goals, and comes as Namibia continues its push for economic transformation through industrialisation, value addition, energy security and skills development.
During the visit, Nandi-Ndaitwah is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Premier of the State Council, senior Communist Party of China leaders, as well as provincial and municipal officials in Guangdong Province (including Guangzhou and Shenzhen), Beijing and Sichuan Province.
Discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, mining and mineral beneficiation, manufacturing, agriculture, renewable energy, green hydrogen, infrastructure development, education, science and technology, digital innovation, tourism and public health, among other areas of mutual interest.

She will also visit major Chinese industrial and innovation facilities, including companies in electronics, telecommunications and energy sectors, to explore potential partnerships aligned with Namibia’s development priorities.
In addition, the President is expected to participate in a Namibia–China High-Level Trade and Investment Conference, bringing together government and business leaders from both countries to explore new investment opportunities, industrial cooperation and market access.
Namibia and China maintain strong economic relations, with China remaining one of Namibia’s key trading partners. Bilateral trade reached N$40.64 billion in 2025, with continued momentum recorded in 2026, driven largely by mineral exports and imports of machinery and industrial goods.
The State Visit is also expected to advance cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), while strengthening collaboration in infrastructure, housing, healthcare, water security and renewable energy.
Nandi-Ndaitwah is accompanied by a high-level delegation of Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials and representatives from the Namibian business community.
The Presidency said the visit is expected to further deepen Namibia–China relations and unlock new opportunities for investment, innovation and inclusive economic growth.
