YOUNG leaders from Africa and other regions have participated in high-level discussions on nuclear energy cooperation, education and sustainable development during the Obninsk NEW’26 International Youth Forum in Russia.
A key highlight of the forum was a meeting between Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev and members of the Impact Team 2050 International Youth Council, which includes 13 young leaders from 13 countries, among them representatives from Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and South Africa.
The group discussed strategies for promoting peaceful nuclear energy use among younger generations and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Another feature of the forum was the presentation of a new publication titled Principles in Action, which documents practical applications of youth-led nuclear cooperation principles across education, science, healthcare and environmental protection.
Forum sessions also examined how youth engagement is shaping the future of the nuclear industry and strengthening international collaboration in science and innovation.
