THE Southern African Development Community (SADC) will convene an extraordinary summit of Heads of State and Government on Monday to deliberate on the political and security situation in Madagascar.
The virtual meeting will be guided by a report from the regional bloc’s Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation and will be chaired by SADC Chairperson and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Madagascar has in recent months faced renewed political tension, disputes over governance, electoral processes and security.
The SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, which is mandated to prevent, manage and resolve conflict in the region, has compiled a report that is expected to guide the bloc’s action.
