NamWater announces planned water interruption affecting Windhoek, Okahandja and surrounding areas

Staff Reporter

NAMIBIA Water Corporation Ltd (NamWater) has announced a scheduled water supply interruption that will affect customers supplied from the Von Bach Water Treatment Plant on Friday, 26 June 2026.

The interruption is due to a planned power outage by NamPower, scheduled from 14:00 to 19:00, to allow for the connection and energising of a mobile substation at the treatment plant.

NamWater said the outage will affect operations at the Von Bach Water Treatment Plant and associated pump stations, resulting in the temporary suspension of water transfer operations until power supply is fully restored.

Affected areas include the City of Windhoek, Okahandja Municipality, Gross Barmen, Osona Military Base, Osona Village, Namib Poultry Industries, Okapuka Road Traffic Checkpoint, Finkenstein, Herbothsbrick and Hosea Kutako International Airport.

Other customers supplied from the Von Bach Water Treatment Plant may also be affected.

NamWater has urged customers to use water sparingly and make the necessary preparations ahead of the interruption.

The corporation apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked customers and stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation.
