Aune Amutenya replaces Maggy Shino as Acting Petroleum Commissioner

AUNE Amutenya, the Deputy Director of Petroleum Exploration and Production, has been appointed Acting Petroleum Commissioner, replacing Maggy Shino, who has been relieved of the position but will remain Director in the Department of Upstream Petroleum Affairs.

The appointment was announced by the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy and is effective from 2 June 2026.

According to the ministry, Amutenya was appointed in terms of Part II, Sections 3 to 7 of the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act, 1991 (Act No. 2 of 1991).

Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy Modestus Amutse said Amutenya’s appointment follows the relief of Shino as Petroleum Commissioner.

“Shino will continue to serve in her current capacity as Director under the Department of Upstream Petroleum Affairs. The Ministry takes this opportunity to congratulate and wish Ms Amutenya success in her new role. At the same time, MIME also expresses its gratitude towards Ms Shino for her services,” Amutse said.
