MINISTER of Information and Communication Technology Emma Theofelus has visited Angola’s newly inaugurated National Data Centre and cloud infrastructure in Camama, Luanda, where she was briefed on its operations and highlighted the importance of strengthening digital infrastructure as Namibia moves towards establishing its own facility.

The visit took place during the ANGOTIC 2026 conference, with Theofelus joined by members of the Namibian delegation attending the event.

The delegation was received by the Director General of the Instituto Nacional de Fomento da Sociedade de Informação (INFOSI), André Mpumba Pedro, who guided them through the facility and provided an overview of its infrastructure and operational systems.

Following the tour, INFOSI consultant Fernando Vicente held a briefing session with the Minister and delegation, explaining key aspects of the data centre’s operations and responding to questions on its functionality and service delivery.

Theofelus expressed appreciation for the advanced nature of the facility, noting its relevance as Namibia continues to develop plans for a national data centre to support digital transformation and public service delivery.

Members of the Namibian delegation also engaged Angolan officials on matters relating to data infrastructure, cloud services, and digital governance.

The Camama Data Centre forms part of Angola’s broader digital transformation agenda and is connected to a high-speed fibre-optic network linking key government institutions.
