AFTER the opening rounds of the expanded FIFA World Cup, early leaders have begun to emerge across several groups following the completion of initial group-stage matches.
In Group A, hosts Mexico and South Korea both sit on three points, while Czechia and South Africa are yet to register a point.
Group B remains finely balanced, with Canada, Qatar, Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina all level on one point following their opening matches.
Scotland lead Group C with three points after defeating Haiti, while Brazil and Morocco share second place on one point each following their 1-1 draw.
Group D has produced two early frontrunners, with hosts United States and Australia both collecting three points. Türkiye and Paraguay are yet to open their accounts.
Germany and Côte d’Ivoire jointly top Group E after winning their opening fixtures, leaving Ecuador and Curaçao without points.
In Group F, Sweden moved to the summit after their emphatic 5-1 victory over Tunisia. Japan and the Netherlands each have one point following their entertaining 2-2 draw, while Tunisia remain without a point.
Groups G through L are yet to complete their opening fixtures, leaving all teams level on zero points.

Football fans can look forward to several high-profile encounters over the coming days.
Today, 15 June, Spain face Cape Verde in Group H at Atlanta Stadium, while Belgium take on Egypt in Group G at Seattle Stadium.
Tuesday’s fixtures include Saudi Arabia against Uruguay, Iran versus New Zealand, and a highly anticipated Group I clash between France and Senegal at New York/New Jersey Stadium.
On Wednesday, Iraq meet Norway, Argentina take on Algeria, Austria face Jordan, Portugal play DR Congo, and England begin their campaign against Croatia in Dallas.
Thursday’s schedule features Ghana versus Panama, Uzbekistan against Colombia, Czechia against South Africa, and Switzerland taking on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
