THE 2026 Kalkfeld AgriMega Day attracted strong participation from the agricultural sector and broader public, drawing more than 1,000 attendees and showcasing farming innovation, livestock trading, and rural enterprise across a wide-ranging programme of exhibitions, demonstrations, and competitions.

The event, held under the theme of momentum, innovation and the future of farming, brought together producers, agribusinesses, government representatives, and farmers’ association members, with total attendance estimated at 1,071. This included 711 visitors and around 360 exhibitors and association members.

A total of 132 exhibitors participated across three main sections, with 72 in the Expo, 45 in the Farmers’ Market, and 15 in the livestock section. Organisers reported strong engagement across all areas, with vendors at the Farmers’ Market in particular recording high sales volumes. Exhibitors also praised the event’s organisation and steady visitor flow.

The livestock section featured cattle, sheep, and goats from various breeders and attracted significant interest during the auction. Organisers say feedback from participants points to increased cattle breed representation expected at the 2027 edition.

Guest speaker Willie Storm delivered two sessions on regenerative agriculture, focusing on land management and animal selection, and providing practical insights into sustainable farming, soil health, and efficient resource use.

The Okanjande Horse Riding Club endurance race also formed part of the programme for a second consecutive year, while the Farmers’ Association provided catering and refreshments throughout the two-day event.

A range of activities contributed to the event’s appeal, including Agra’s shooting range, which offered .22 rifle shooting for adults and supervised air rifle activities for younger participants. The attraction proved particularly popular with younger visitors.

Additional entertainment included a 4×4 vasbyt challenge organised by Vasbyt Namibia in partnership with Upmarket Creative Hub, as well as a hangbar competition and beer crate stacking challenge facilitated by Namib Adventure. The event concluded with line dancing, prize-giving, and live entertainment by Etjo Sounds.

The presence of Regional Governor John Julius ǁKhamuseb added significance to the occasion, with government representatives reportedly expressing positive feedback.

Overall, the AgriMega Day was widely praised for its organisation, safety, networking opportunities, and diverse programme, reinforcing its growing role as a key fixture in Namibia’s agricultural calendar.
