DURING a recent visit to Philadelphia, United States Ambassador to Namibia John Giordano met with Holt Logistics leadership to discuss the importance of ports, warehousing, and integrated logistics networks in facilitating the efficient movement of global trade.
The discussions focused on how transport infrastructure is increasingly becoming a strategic economic asset, shaping the flow of energy resources, industrial goods, commodities and agricultural products across regions and into global markets.
Ambassador Giordano added that American logistics and infrastructure operators continue to play a key role in global trade through operational reliability, sustained investment and the ability to manage complex freight systems at scale.
He added that similar dynamics are becoming increasingly important in Africa, where the development of modern logistics corridors and port infrastructure—including at Namibia’s Walvis Bay port—is expected to enhance long-term competitiveness and drive economic growth.
“Efficient transport infrastructure is increasingly a strategic advantage. It shapes how energy resources, industrial goods, commodities, and agricultural products move across large geographies and connect to global markets,” Giordano said.
He further emphasised that strong logistics systems are essential for improving trade connectivity between continents and supporting sustainable economic development.
