THE Namibian Police have reported a series of housebreaking and theft incidents across several towns in the country over the past weekend. Authorities are investigating multiple cases where suspects broke into homes and businesses, stealing personal belongings and electronic items, with no arrests or recoveries made so far.
According to the weekend crime report, a hostage situation unfolded in Windhoek on Saturday in Kleine Kuppe, where suspects wearing balaclavas and gloves broke into a residence, tied up the complainant’s son with shoelaces, held the complainant hostage while demanding money, and stole gadgets and other personal items.
In Ondangwa, a shebeen at Oshitayi Cucashop was broken into on Friday. The complainant, who had been away for an extended period, returned to find the padlock broken and electronic appliances missing.
Between 26 and 27 March, at Okathiya location in Okatope, unknown suspects forced open a padlock to gain entry and stole money from a jukebox.
In Katima Mulilo, a house at the New Cowboy Compound was broken into on Friday, with personal items taken by the suspect. A separate incident in Chefuzwe village on Saturday involved a similar break-in, with electronic equipment and other personal belongings stolen.
Katutura also reported a housebreaking on Friday in Brakwater, where personal belongings were stolen after the door was forced open. In Klein Windhoek, same day, suspects broke into a garage and took a mountain bike, borsch drill, grinding machine, jigsaw, and other personal items.
Lastly, in Nkurenkuru, Kavango West region, on Friday, a suspect broke into a room at Siudiva Village and stole personal belongings.
Police investigations continue in all cases, and the public is urged to remain vigilant.
