POLICE arrested several suspects in separate drug-related incidents reported in Khorixas, Lüderitz, Windhoek, Rehoboth, Kamanjab and Keetmanshoop over the weekend.
According to the weekend crime report, in Lüderitz, two Namibian men aged between 25 and 35 were arrested on Friday after they were allegedly caught attempting to smuggle cannabis hidden in food into the police station. In a separate incident, the same day in Spokiesdorp, another suspect was arrested after police allegedly discovered a bag of cannabis buried in the ground during a search.
In Khorixas, a 34-year-old Namibian woman was arrested on Friday after police allegedly discovered a parcel containing cannabis in a vehicle during a search.
In Windhoek, a 47-year-old Namibian man was arrested on Friday at a roadblock between Windhoek and Rehoboth after he was allegedly found in possession of cannabis during a search. In a separate incident in Rehoboth, a 25-year-old Namibian man was also found in possession of cannabis during a search in Block E on Saturday.
Meanwhile, in Kamanjab, a 25-year-old Namibian man was arrested on Saturday on the Kamanjab–Outjo C40 road after he was allegedly found in possession of cannabis and mandrax tablets. Police reported that a vehicle had dropped off three men on the roadside before the search was conducted.
In a separate incident in Keetmanshoop on Saturday, a 26-year-old Namibian man was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of mandrax tablets and cannabis, which he reportedly attempted to throw over a yard wall.
All suspects are in police custody and are expected to appear in the respective magistrates’ courts.
