“Our members informed him to wait outside while arranging for someone to attend to him. However, while leaving the office, the suspect took a vehicle key that was on the table and went outside. Members later realised that the key had been taken when they observed a police vehicle being driven out of the yard. They followed the vehicle and shortly thereafter found that it had crashed into a private property on Richardine Klopper Street, Khomasdal, a few metres away from the Khomasdal City Police Office,” Iileka said.

He added that both the vehicle and the property sustained multiple damages.

“During the time of the incident, no injuries were sustained by the suspect or by occupants of the property. The suspect was identified as a 32-year-old male. It was later confirmed by doctors from the Mental Hospital that he is a mental patient and is currently receiving medical attention. Investigations into the matter are ongoing,” Iileka confirmed.
