THE Chairperson of the Oshana Regional Youth Forum, Absalom Itamalo, said the Forum remains committed to creating opportunities that enable young people to thrive. Speaking at a three-day nail technology training course at Okaku village in the Okaku constituency, Itamalo said “empowerment” must go beyond words, noting that young people — especially young women — can be helped to build sustainable livelihoods by equipping them with practical skills and tools.
Eight young people from the constituency are attending the training course, designed to equip them with practical skills in nail technology, enabling them to start their own small-scale businesses and benefit from the N$25,000 allocated to each constituency’s Youth Development Fund by the National Youth Council of Namibia.
Each participant will receive a full start-up kit of nail technology materials to help them practise their newly acquired skills and establish their own nail care businesses.
The training course was officially opened by Okaku constituency councillor Esther Fillemon, who encouraged the prospective nail caregivers to take full advantage of the opportunity to acquire skills that will enable them to become financially independent and contribute positively to their communities.
