TWO British tourists, namely Allan Martin Wilson and Neil Thomas Oakman, died after the plane in which they were travelling crashed outside Walvis Bay after take-off.

According to Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula, the accident happened on Wednesday, 4 March 2026 at about 17:00 at Gobabeb.

“It is alleged that three British nationals, John Lowe, Alan Martin Wilson, 62 years old, and Neil Thomas Oakman, 63 years old, came to Namibia on 25 February 2026 to conduct research at Gobabeb,” Shomongula said.

She added that on Wednesday, 4 March 2026 at about 17:00, Alan Martin Wilson and Neil Thomas Oakman took off to look for animal collars in the dunes.

“At about 19:00, John Lowe started getting worried about the colleagues who took long to come back to the centre. He informed the head of the centre to start searching around the area and they later discovered a crashed aircraft at the Gobabeb airstrip,” Shomongula said.

The police were informed and the bodies were transported to the Walvis Bay police mortuary for further investigations.

“The Police in the Erongo Region extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” Shomongula concluded.
