Widespread showers characterised the weekend, affecting multiple places and leaving some areas flooded — and this stormy weather is expected to persist.
Namibia Meteorological Services predicted that isolated to scattered thundershowers will likely continue in the northern and central parts of the country, while the south is expected to experience widespread thundershowers today.

The weekend has already brought heavy rainfall across large parts of the country, stretching from the north to the south.
Outapi in the Omusati Region is one of the places that was significantly affected by intense thundershowers this weekend. Parts of the northern town were left flooded, making it difficult for vehicles to pass through waterlogged roads. Tsumeb and nearby areas in the Oshikoto Region have also recorded significant rainfall since Friday.
However, this weekend’s showers were not confined to the northern parts of the country. The recent showers hit various places spanning multiple regions. This includes Windhoek in the Khomas Region, Otavi and Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa Region, Summerdown in the Omaheke Region, and Maltahöhe in the Hardap Region, to name a few.
The public is advised to remain cautious as the stormy weather is expected to persist into the new week. According to Namibia Meteorological Services, severe thunderstorms are expected over the interior parts of the country today, with the likelihood of flash floods, particularly in the central and southern regions.
