THREE men were arrested for the possession of cannabis worth over N$300 000 on the Trans Kalahari Road after an intense police chase.
According to Chief Inspector Fina Sakajengenga, the incident happened on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, at around 12:30 on the Trans Kalahari-Gobabis road.
“It is alleged that a red sedan vehicle occupied by three male persons was spotted twice on the mentioned road, which made officers suspicious about its movements. The vigilant officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to do so. After a long chase, the vehicle came to a standstill next to the road, and one male person managed to disembark from the vehicle and fled on foot carrying plastic bags into the nearby farm camps,” Sakajengenga said.
She added that two of the three male occupants were arrested on the spot and, with assistance from DLESD, BIPD and the local K-9s, the third suspect was found and arrested with cannabis at around 16:30 near Ernst Meyer after a long chase.
A total of 6,775 kilograms of cannabis valued at N$338 750,00 was recovered.
The vehicle in question was booked in as an exhibit. Investigations continue.
