ANDREW Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of King Charles, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, the BBC reported on Thursday. The arrest comes amid ongoing scrutiny over his past association with the late U.S. financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that a man in his 60s from Norfolk has been taken into custody and will not be named until formally charged, in line with standard UK procedure. The announcement follows allegations that Mountbatten-Windsor may have passed confidential government documents to Epstein, according to files recently released by the U.S. government.
Earlier reports described a police operation involving six unmarked vehicles and around eight plain-clothed officers at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate in eastern England, where Mountbatten-Windsor currently resides. Officers were also conducting searches at properties in Berkshire, where Royal Lodge—the former home of Mountbatten-Windsor—is located.
Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein, expressing only regret over their past friendship. He has not commented publicly since the latest release of documents.
The arrest coincides with Mountbatten-Windsor’s birthday on Thursday, marking his 66th year. Investigations by Thames Valley Police are ongoing.
