NAMIBIA is a nation governed by the rule of law, where there is no place for those who believe that they can intimidate, threaten or harm officers of the law in an attempt to bend justice to their will, said President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in a message of condolences delivered on her behalf by Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare at the memorial and funeral services for the late state prosecutor Justine Shiweda this weekend.
“Any act directed against those who uphold our laws,” said the President, “is an act against the Republic itself and it will be met with the full force of the law.”
The President said that the safety and dignity of those who serve in the justice system are not negotiable and described the late Shiweda as a dedicated servant of the law, a professional who carried out her duties with integrity, courage and a deep sense of justice.

“She represented the very ideals upon which our justice system is built. She believed in the independence of the law and in the principle that justice must never be for sale,” said President Nandi-Ndaitwah.
Shiweda was seriously injured in an acid and gun attack that occurred in Ondangwa on 17 October 2025. She died in a Windhoek hospital on 7 February and was laid to rest on Saturday in a fitting send-off, a dignified national honours funeral.
The mother of two minor children, Shiweda is also survived by her parents, Severus and Rosalia Shiweda, and eight siblings.
