A 41-YEAR-OLD man identified as Jeffrey Kasume was arrested this Tuesday for the murder of his 33-year-old ex-lover, Regina Kondombolo.
Kasume is charged with one count of murder read with the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, obstructing the course of justice and violating a dead corpse. The state alleges that Kasume, on or about 7 February 2026, unlawfully killed Kondombolo, with whom he had been in a domestic relationship.
Kondombolo was discovered at a residence in Otjomuise Extension 2 on Monday evening. The body was found at around 18:00 when her ex-boyfriend, Kasume, the accused in the matter, and the landlord broke into the residence after they failed to get a response from inside. It is alleged that Kasume first visited the residence of the late Kondombolo on Monday around 11:00 before lunch and thereafter returned at about 17:00 and broke down the door of the deceased together with the landlord.
Upon entering the residence, Kasume contaminated the crime scene and violated the decomposed corpse of Kondombolo by allegedly trying to resuscitate her body, as well as clothing her and rearranging her hair.
The state objected to the granting of bail, stating that the accused might be a flight risk as he is believed to be a Kenyan national and that his current legal status in Namibia is unknown. The prosecutor in the matter also noted that there are fears that the accused may interfere with investigations or state witnesses.
Faced with a courtroom full of family members of the late Kondombolo, the accused Kasume bowed his head, barely making eye contact with the crowd. The matter was postponed to 24 April 2026 for further investigations. An emotional close friend described the late Kondombolo as an ambitious young woman who created employment for herself by running an “order with me” importing business, and that she had finally saved up enough to enrol in a beautician course outside the country.
