THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Namibia has announced the arrest of Sylvanus Shipandeni Shuudeni (45), an administrative officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, civil department, Rundu regional office.
Shuudeni was taken into custody on 9 February 2026 following investigations into alleged corrupt practices. The case stems from a February 2018 incident in which he facilitated the issuing of national documents to an Angolan national who was not eligible for Namibian birth documentation.
He faces charges under section 43(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act for corruptly using his office for gratification. Shuudeni made his first appearance at the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on 10 February and was granted bail of N$8 000. The matter has been postponed to 28 September 2026 for the fixing of a trial date.
