OHANGWENA Region’s development plans prioritise service delivery, food security, rural development, youth empowerment and economic growth, therefore in tune with the SWAPO Party 2025–2030 Manifesto and the National Development Plan, said Regional Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa in a speech during a strategic performance review conference held at Eenhana on Wednesday.
She said the Region’s plans include important projects such as a textile manufacturing hub at Oshikango in the border town of Helao Nafidi; an irrigation scheme in Ekoka village; the construction of the Eenhana Campus of the Namibia University of Science and Technology; and a bulk water supply project from Omundaungilo village in Ohangwena to Omuthsewonime in the Oshikoto Region.

Hamutumwa urged leaders in the region to be community-focused and to uphold integrity, accountability and professionalism.
On traditional leaders, she said that traditional authorities fulfil an important role in preserving culture, managing communal land and linking government to communities.
Overviews of performances, achievements and challenges were presented during the conference.
