DEPUTY Army Commander Brigadier General Andreas Diyeve Diyeve has officially opened the 15th Company Group Commanders Course (CGCC) and the 18th Platoon Commanders Course (PCC) at the Nehale Lyampingana Army Battle School in the Oshikoto Region, urging officers to take their training seriously as part of efforts to strengthen leadership capacity within the Namibian Army.

The courses were launched on behalf of the Army Commander, Major General Aktofel Ndengu Nambahu. Addressing participants, Brigadier General Diyeve emphasised the importance of acquiring new and advanced military skills to enhance effectiveness during operations and assignments in both peace and wartime.

“Take ownership of your destiny in order to become reliable military commanders in your various capacities,” he said, adding that the knowledge and skills gained during the courses will be critical for participants’ future roles as officers in the Namibian Defence Force.

The Deputy Army Commander also cautioned officers against using social media to air grievances, stressing that the military, like any professional institution, has established procedures and official channels for communication.

The six-month programmes will combine theoretical and practical training, covering areas such as conventional warfare and low-intensity conflict operations, among others.

During the visit, Brigadier General Diyeve toured infrastructure projects currently under development at the school and expressed satisfaction with the progress made, noting that improved infrastructure is key to strengthening the Defence Force.

The launch of the CGCC and PCC forms part of ongoing efforts by the Namibian Army to enhance the capabilities of its officers through continuous training and professional development.
