Nestlé NAN infant formula recalled over safety concerns

The 800-gram tin of Nestlé NAN Special Pro HA Infant Formula (0–12 months), batch number 51660742F3, has been recalled.

The recall was announced by the City of Windhoek following an urgent notice from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, which advised that the product should not be used as it is not fit for human consumption.

“The product recall follows the detection of a potential presence of cereulide, a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus, which poses a serious food safety risk,” the City of Windhoek said.

The council urged all business owners and retailers to immediately remove the affected product from their shelves. The formula has reportedly been sold nationwide through major retailers and distributors since September 2025.

The City of Windhoek also advised parents whose infants may have consumed the product to closely monitor them for symptoms, particularly severe and persistent vomiting, diarrhoea, and unusual tiredness.

“Should any of these symptoms occur, or for precautionary advice, parents and caregivers are urged to consult a healthcare provider immediately, even if symptoms are mild or absent,” the City of Windhoek said.
