The nation remembers President Geingob

The chairman of Namibia’s internationally acclaimed Constitutional Committee, first prime minister and third president, the late Dr Hage Geingob, was remembered at a small, intimate ceremony at Heroes’ Acre today. His widow and former first lady, Monica Geingos, the former first lady, Susie Mbumba, and Vicky Toivo ya Toivo, the widow of liberation icon Hermann Toivo ya Toivo, took their place next to the gravesite.
Also in attendance were former president and Geingob’s longtime comrade, Nangolo Mbumba, Namibian sporting superstar Frank Fredericks, his bodyguard Johan Ndjaronguru, NamRA Commissioner Sem Shivute, and Head of Informanté, Chris Jacobie.
Dr Geingob was a man of principle and honour, known for his integrity and deep respect for public service.
From exile to independence, his life was devoted to freedom, democracy, and the dignity of all Namibians.
As a nation builder and leader, he helped shape Namibia’s Constitution and guided the country with unity and resolve.
His legacy endures in a free nation, strengthened by the values he upheld and the people he served.
His vision, dedication, and leadership will continue to inspire Namibia for generations to come.
