THE FNB Namibia Eagles are heading to the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka today.
At a farewell function hosted by FNB yesterday, coach Craig Williams assured Eagle supporters that the team is planning to cause a few upsets.

The first stop will be the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they will play a few warm-up matches before their opening match in Delhi against the Netherlands on 10 February. Namibia has been drawn in Group A alongside cricket giants India and Pakistan, as well as fellow associate cricketing nations, the Netherlands and the United States (US) – one of the toughest groups in the World Cup.
National captain Gerhard Erasmus commented that the team is under no illusions about the task ahead, as India and Pakistan are powerhouses of world cricket, while the other two associate nations in the group—the Netherlands and the US—are probably the two best teams in the associate world at the moment.
FirstRand Namibia CEO Conrad Dempsey congratulated the team on qualifying for the T20 World Cup. He stated that it is an incredible milestone for Namibian cricket and for the nation as a whole. Dempsey further stated that investing in local talent has reaped rewards.
Namibia will take on hosts India on 18 February, also in Delhi.
