THE northern parts of the country have experienced the highest total rainfall so far this rainy season, with several places recording more than 400 millimetres (mm) of rain between October 2025 and December 2025.
This was highlighted in the Ministry of Works and Transport’s Climate Watch Report.
The report revealed that Kasheshe in the Zambezi Region was one of the areas that received significant rainfall, recording a total of 525 mm between October and December 2025. Several other northern areas also recorded more than 400 mm of rainfall during this period, including Bukalo in the Zambezi Region (499.1 mm), Ongwediva in the Oshana Region (487 mm), and Uukwiyu-Uushona in the Oshana Region (430.5 mm).

A number of other northern areas, spanning multiple regions, also saw rainfall exceeding 300 mm during October to December 2025. These include Omafo in the Ohangwena Region (321.2 mm), Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region (315 mm), Omauni in the Ohangwena Region (328 mm), Sibinda in the Zambezi Region (355.9 mm), Ompundja in the Oshana Region (345.2 mm), Ndiyona in the Kavango East Region (316.1 mm), Mukwe in the Kavango East Region (348 mm), King Kauluma in the Oshikoto Region (390.8 mm), Namutoni in the Oshikoto Region (375.7 mm), and Outjo in the Kunene Region (319.4 mm).
According to the report, the above-normal rainfall recorded during these months was primarily driven by the substantial rainfall received in December.
“The highest monthly rainfall amounts (for December) were recorded at Ongwediva (460 mm), Uukwiyu-Uushona (430.5 mm), Kasheshe (385 mm), Bukalo (383.3 mm), Okaukamasheshe (323.4 mm), Ompundja (320.6 mm), Eheke (311.0 mm), Omafo (310 mm), and Epembe (302 mm),” the report highlighted.
The ministry’s report also indicated that more rainfall is expected in the country for the remainder of the rainfall season, which is set to persist until April 2026. The northern areas of the country are likely to receive between 150 mm and 250 mm of rainfall.
