THE Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) has appointed Dr Alfons Amoomo as Deputy Executive Director in the Department of Health and Social Welfare Policy, effective 7 January 2026.
Dr Amoomo joins the ministry’s senior management with extensive experience in health systems, policy development and public sector leadership. In his new role, he will provide strategic oversight in the formulation and implementation of health and social welfare policies aligned with national priorities.
Prior to his appointment, Dr Amoomo served as Regional Director for the Omusati Region from January 2017. He previously held the position of Senior Manager at the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA).
The Minister, Executive Director, management and staff of the Ministry of Health and Social Services welcomed Dr Amoomo to the department and wished him success in his new role, expressing confidence that his contribution will further strengthen policy leadership and service delivery across the health and social welfare sector.
