The suspension is effective from 5 January 2026 until further notice.

Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Kenneth Kenneth Shoombe said that the Directorate has noted with concern that the importation of bran into Namibia from Angola has been carried out without full compliance with the import requirements as stipulated in the issued import permits.

“This non-compliance poses significant disease risks to the animal population of Namibia,” he said, as he announced the cancellation of all previously issued import permits. “This measure,” he said, “is intended to allow the veterinary authorities of both countries to engage and agree on the way forward regarding the importation of the products into Namibia.”
