THE Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy has announced that the prices of petrol and both diesel grades will remain unchanged for January 2026. In Walvis Bay, petrol will stay at N$20.58 per litre, diesel 50ppm at N$20.13, and diesel 10ppm at N$20.23 per litre.
The decision follows a review of fuel prices for the month, which recorded over-recoveries of 42.51 cents per litre for petrol, 8.66 cents per litre for 50ppm diesel, and 18.37 cents per litre for 10ppm diesel, indicating that regulated prices were higher than costs reflected in the Ministry’s pricing model.
The review added that international oil prices declined in November 2025 due to increased global supply, including higher U.S. shale output and easing of OPEC+ production cuts, combined with slower demand growth and a weaker U.S. Dollar. Average crude prices for the period December 1–16, 2025, were US$80.49 per barrel for petrol 95, US$83.78 per barrel for diesel 50ppm, and US$83.81 per barrel for diesel 10ppm.
The Namibia Dollar strengthened slightly against the U.S. Dollar, averaging N$16.97 per U.S. Dollar during the same period, a 1.46% appreciation compared to November 2025.
Given these factors, the Ministry opted to maintain current fuel prices to support stability amid ongoing market volatility. The Ministry thanked consumers for their continued cooperation and wished all Namibians a safe and joyful festive season, urging motorists to drive responsibly during the holidays.
